INGREDIENTS

Royal dal tadka recipe

1 Cup tur(arhar) dal

1 large tomato ( or 2 small tomatos )

5 green chillies ( medium sized )

1/2 tsf turmeric (haldi) powder

Salt as per taste

4 glass water

For tempering(tadka)

1 tablespoon mustard oil ( mohari tail. )

Pinch asafoetida (hing) – shahi hing

1/2 tsf mustard seeds (rai)

1/2 tsf Cumin seeds (jeera)

3-4 cloves garlic

Chopped onion (small) and

coriander leaves

1-2 red dried chillies ( as whole )

1/2 teaspoon kasuri methi ( crushed )

Wash Tuvar dal with water and soak dal for 20 minutes.

Take a pressure cooker . Add dal , Add Chopped tomatoes, green chillies,salt and turmeric into the dal.

Add sufficient water , remember we have to make dal thik.

Pressure cook for approx 10 minutes .

Now for tempering,

Take mustard oil in a tempering pan.
Add hing, chopped onion and garlic to it .

Once onion turns to light brown, then add mustard and cumin seeds.

Then add kasuri methi leaves. Crush the kasuri methi and add.


Now put this tempering mix into the dal . Cover this for 10 minutes.
Garnish well with ghee and chopped coriander leaves.
